World of Warcraft Classic adds the Fury of the Sunwell update – its last major patch before Wrath of the Lich King – to Burning Crusade servers.
World of Warcraft Classic fans have had a lot to celebrate recently between the Ahn’Qiraj War Effort Mastery Season update and the Wrath of the Lich King Classic announcement. To increase the hype, Burning Crusade Classic just released Sun’s Fury–the final major patch before Wrath of the Lich King.
Sun’s Fury adds the Isle of Quel’Danas zone to the World of Warcraft Classic. The tiny island is home to daily quests, rewards, and the Sunwell Plateau raid, which pits players against the demon lord Kil’jaeden and the corrupt prince Kael’thas.
Players wishing to head to the Isle of Quel’Danas will need to head to Shattrath City after reaching level 70. Once there, players will find new quests in either Aldor Rise or Scryer’s Tier, depending on their affiliation. A short quest will take players to Ironforge for Alliance players and Silvermoon for Horde, which will provide flight paths to Quel’Danas, where they can begin their daily quests to gain reputation with the Shattered Sun Offensive.
The Sun’s Fury patch was the final patch before Wrath of the Lich King has been released, which means the next expansion is likely to come Classic coming soon. world of warcraft said it was expected to be released in 2022, which means the Wrath of the Lich King beta will likely arrive sometime in the summer, with a likely fall or winter release. The Exploring Azeroth: Northrend book is currently slated for an October release, further hinting at a similar release for Wrath of the Lich King Classic.
Many World of Warcraft Classic fans are excited to return to the Isle of Quel’Danas in Sun’s Fury. The attack on the Sunwell Plateau in burning crusade is fondly remembered by players due to its high difficulty and interesting knowledge. These players can’t wait to help fight Kael’thas and his Sunfury army to retake the Isle for the Blood Elves once more – nor can they wait to head to Northrend in Wrath of the Lich King Classic soon after.
There was some confusion in Sunwell’s Fury announcement. While NA servers have their weekly resets on Tuesday, other regions reset at other times of the week, meaning they still can’t access the new content. Sun’s Fury is live on NA servers now and will be released in other regions after their normal weekly reset periods.
World of Warcraft Classic is now available on PC. Wrath of the Lich King Classic is scheduled to be released in late 2022.
