Maverick content later this month

After delays in the Top Gun: Maverick movie, a special DLC aircraft from the movie is scheduled to be released in Microsoft Flight Simulator.

A special movie DLC pack for Microsoft Flight Simulator with jets from the first movie was announced nearly a year ago and was intended to be released with Top Gun: Maverick. But as the movie kept getting delayed by Paramount, looking to release the movie at the right time, the developers at Asobo were left with cool new planes in the hangar. Top Gun: Maverick now appears to be on final approach and Asobo has pushed forward the release date of Top Gun: Maverick DLC in Microsoft Flight Simulator.

GAMERANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Xbox’s Twitter account tweeted to draw attention to the release of DLC inspired by the movie. It will arrive on the Xbox platform on May 25th, a few days before the movie’s theatrical release on the 27th. Microsoft Flight Simulator – Top Gun: Maverick The DLC will feature the F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter that was featured in the original 1986 film piloted by Tom Cruise for the flight simulator with stunningly recreated interior and exterior. The DLC will also recreate the aircraft carriers the F/A-18s flew from in the film.

There have been rumors of additional content coming with the DLC, but Microsoft, Asobo, and not even Paramount have confirmed anything other than the Super Hornet just yet. When the DLC was first announced around the time of the Xbox 2021 Summer Showcase, it was set to be one of the first fighter jets to come to the simulator. Unfortunately, other third-party aircraft developers have launched other fighters like the F-16, trainer jets, and even aircraft carriers.

Top Gun: Maverick It’s been on a hold pattern for what feels like years at this point due to Paramount Pictures delaying the film’s release to get a better release window with audiences finally returning to theaters after the pandemic. Paramount changed the release several times as stronger variants of COVID-19 continued to cause spikes in infection rates and prevent moviegoers from reserving their seats in theaters.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is not the only game with a top gun link like Ace Combat 7: Unknown Skies is also set to get DLC aircraft. While Microsoft Flight Simulator it’s a more hardcore game, but quiet, Ace Combat 7 it is the opposite in both ways and allows players to be another player’s Maverick Goose to claim their air superiority. With Paramount giving Microsoft the go-ahead to run promotions like this, the Top Gun: Maverick DLC activated Microsoft Flight Simulator seems clear for takeoff.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is now available for PC and Xbox Series X|S. Top Gun: Maverick hits theaters on May 27.
