Kolkata Knight Riders on Thursday acquired a franchise in the upcoming T20 cricket league in the UAE.
The Knight Riders Group has acquired the rights to run and set up the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in a six-team tournament. The flagship tournament is expected to host top players from all major cricketing nations.

It will be the fourth franchise owned by the group, which founded the successful Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2008 and Trinbego Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) in 2015. He has also acquired a team. In Major League Cricket (MLC) in the USA where he will establish the Los Angeles franchise.
Speaking on its franchise acquisition, owner Shah Rukh Khan said: “For many years now, we have been expanding the Knight Riders brand globally and looking closely at the potential of T20 cricket in the UAE. We are excited to be part of the UAE’s T20 league, which will undoubtedly be a huge success. “
