The Sims 5 has no current estimated or known release date. Because it is not yet certain that the game is in development. Rumor has it that Electronic Arts and Maxis have been working on a new game since 2018 or 2019. No confirmation has been received from Electronic Arts as to whether the Sims 5 will have online capabilities, although this seems very likely. In January 2020, the Sims Community released a transcript of an electronic arts company meeting in which the CEO stated that the Sims franchise plans to take a sharp turn toward social features in the next installment of the game. He added that features of The Sims Online would be relaunched to The Sims 4 sometime in the coming years, although it was not specifically stated that it would be Sims 5.

There have been many small leaks for The Sims 5 throughout the year, but sadly very little has come to light, and the honorees were mostly vague, such as how The Sims 5 would focus more on social elements. As far as the announcement is concerned, neither EA nor Maxis has confirmed anything about the development of Sims 5.
