pokemon fans have been mixing Game Freak’s creatures with other franchises for years. Gamers love to take their favorite pocket monsters and transform them in the style of other video game characters. pokemon was mixed with franchises like Monster hunter and overwatchwith players consistently creating creative combos.
One artist did just that with the original starter Pokémon. red pokemon and Blueas well as the third entry in the first generation of the series, yellow pokemon, introduced players to the first pocket monsters they would see in a game. The artist has blended these four starters with one of the biggest and most revered fighting game franchises of all time.
An artist named pilehh combined Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Charmander and Pikachu with four of the ninjas from Mortal combat. In the art, Bulbasaur is dressed as Reptile, Squirtle is mixed with Sub-Zero, Charmander is combined with Ermac, and Pikachu becomes Scorpion. In the piece it can be seen that pilehh added small details to each Pokémon, such as the fire on Charmander’s tail being green to mirror Ermac’s powers.
The pokemon the drawing that pilehh made received a lot of fans. They like the look the artist has given each Pokémon, finding the piece very cute and amazing. One stated they now want the art on a shirt, while another said they now have a new background for their phone. There was one commentator who mentioned that Charmander should be Scorpion instead of Pikachu, as Scorpion has fire-based powers. However, pilehh stated that they matched the Pokémon with their respective ninjas by color scheme, not powers. The art is quite impressive and adorable and is a great tribute to two of the biggest video game franchises ever released.
The piece that pilehh designed is not the only work of art that mixes pokemon with other video game series. An artist called bromojumbo mixed Pokémon Sinistea and Polteageist with Pot Friend from Elden ring. The two Ghost-Type pocket monsters have had their teacup and kettle designs changed to better suit the colors and patterns that are seen in Pot Friends. More cracks and holes have been added to the Sinistea and Polteageist pots to align with your designs in pokemon sword and Shield, while the spiral design that encircles the top edge of Pot Friends has also been changed to glyphs. The two pocket monsters and the characters from Elden ring fit together perfectly and led to a great crossover.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will be released for Nintendo Switch in 2022.
