Love and Thunder is the 4th Lowest Rated MCU Movie of All Time on Rotten Tomatoes

The latest offering in the Marvel Cinematic Universe made its way to Indian theatres on July 7, a day early from its release in the United States. Reviews are in for Thor: Love and Thunder and the Rotten Tomatoes score for the film is not looking great. The score for the movie is currently at 70% based on 183 reviews at the time of this publication, which is certainly not a bad score, but it lands the Taika Waititi-directed flick into the low end of MCU movies.

While reviews aren’t necessarily the final judgement of a movie, it is telling that Thor: Love and Thunder barely has a better score than 2008’s The Incredible Hulk which sits at 67%. Another film in the series, 2013’s Thor: The Dark World is at 66% and last year’s Eternals has 47% on the Tomatometer.

MCU movies with the highest score on the Tomatometer are Black Panther with 96%, Avengers: Endgame with 94%, and the first Iron Man movie with 94%.

The critical consensus by Tomatometer says the following about Thor: Love and Thunder: “In some ways, Thor: Love and Thunder feels like Ragnarok redux — but overall, it offers enough fast-paced fun to make this a worthy addition to the MCU.”

This overall score might change a bit in the coming few days, but not by much. This goes to show that the movie is not doing as well with critics as Marvel would hope.

Thor: Love and Thunder released a day early on July 7 in India. Marvel announced that the film will have an uninterrupted run of 96 hours in select theatres across the country. The first show started past midnight at 12:15 am. Marvel will showcase the film for four days straight until midnight on July 10.
